The Assumption Cathedral, also known as the Great Pechersk Church, and the Church of the Savior on Berestov were built during the heyday of Kievan Rus ’— the largest state of the European Middle Ages.
The centuries-old chronicles of these churches are filled with countless events—both majestic and dramatic—that vividly bear witness to the history of Ukraine itself.
Unfortunately, among the monuments of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, these shrines have suffered the most from the ravages of time. Their ancient history is steeped in legends and raises many questions.
