A Journey into the World of Ukrainian Baroque

A Journey into the World of Ukrainian Baroque

Ukrainian Baroque is our shared cultural heritage with Europe, vividly embodied in the architecture of the Lavra and the murals of its churches.

During the time of Ivan Mazepa, the monastery experienced an incredible prosperity: the churches were adorned with Baroque decor that was familiar and relatable to the Western world. This tour will show how our identity shines through the exquisite ornamentation, dynamic facades, and symbolism of the art of that era.

A walk through the Upper Territory offers a chance to see the Lavra as a space where the Ukrainian spirit and European aesthetics have always been one.
